Recently the Queen Square Brain Bank for Neurological Disorders, Institute of Neurology, UCL, was requiring new fume cabinets for a planned move of their Histology Laboratory. Not wishing to have capital cost of new laboratory ducting, they contacted Bigneat Containment Technology for their suggestions.
Bigneat has considerable experience in the design, manufacture, validation and maintenance of enclosures for containing hazards such as particulates and chemical fumes. Their cabinets are mostly of a ductless design incorporating carbon filters for fume removal. These work by purifying air drawn through the filter, removing chemicals, whether acid, base, solvents or otherwise, and returning it clean to the laboratory.
Bigneat Chemcap™ ductless fume cabinets are perfect for their applications. Linda Kilford, Senior Research Technician explains “In the preparation of our samples and staining of slides we use xylene, ammonia, alcohols and formic acid. Using a general purpose filter coupled with a HEPA particulate filter we can remove all these vapours”.
Bigneat welcomes approaches from companies wishing to investigate the suitability of recirculatory filtration cabinets for their particular applications.
